Repurposing Waste As Art,
Discarded food tins, plaster, paintImages courtesy of the artistMoreArt Public Arts Festival, Coburg Mall, Melbourne, AustraliaThis was a participatory, local environment focused, creative space for all ages to paint, carve and draw onto a plaster object repurposed from an empty food tin. This work was established during an artist residency in 2015 at the Projects Abroad Shark Conservation Project in Pacific Harbour, near Suva in Southern Fiji. It was originally used as a way of processing waste at the property. An enormous Vinaka vakalevu ("Thank you very much!") to Ingrid Sprake who started the shark conservation project and challenged me to find an alternative to the general disposal of the tins. And to all the Research Volunteers who assisted me with this project!
